Actors-N-Theatre in Cuyahoga Falls will present its summer show "Robin Hood" Aug. 7 through 22.
ANTIC's version of the classic legend is written by Larry Blamire.
Everyone is familiar with the story of Robin Hood, who steals from the rich and gives to the poor.
The director is Mary Kay Dente.
The story begins with Robin Hood, played by Patrick Wulff, and Will Gamwell (later Scarlet), played by Darius Mousavi, hunting in the forests of Sherwood. They meet Maid Marian, played by Rachel Shoff, and decide to impress her with their skill. However, Marian is a match for both Robin and Will, to their surprise. Her skill is needed when Riccon Hazel, played by Rachel Horseman, and a group of Royal Foresters, played by Erin O'Neill, Regan O'Neill, Hannah Siebenhaar and Allison Kump engage Robin and his group in a battle. Riccon and the Foresters are defeated and retreat to safety.
The Sheriff of Nottingham, played by Ross Fertel, and the Bishop of Herford, played by Peter Handley, wait for King John, played by Mark Brown. Hilton, played by Jennifer Davis (Allison Kump on Aug. 14 and 15) announces the entry of King John. The King wishes to invade France and continues to raise taxes on the people of England to finance his plan.
However, he is held in check by his mother, Queen Eleanor, played by Karen Sauerbrey. She is shocked to hear that her favorite lady, Maid Marian, has taken part in a battle with the Royal Foresters.
The band of Robin Hood soon grows to include Little John, played by Christopher Poore, Friar Tuck, played by Doug McAllister, Ellen Deirwold, played by Stefanie Genda, Alan-a-Dale, played by Daniel Lozinak, Ivy, played by Christie Reid, Much, played by Tyler Coffy, Bliss, played by Hailey Calhoun, and Meg, played by Hannah Clemons. Robin even finds time to help his cousin, the Prioress, played by Hannah Siebenhaar.
When Robin Hood and his band relax at the Blue Boar Inn, a raid by the Sheriff, results in tragedy for Catherine, played by Dawn Zinmeister, and the capture of Ellen by the Sheriff and his men.
The Bishop introduces the sinister and mysterious Guy of Gisbourne, played by Ellie Strum (Rebecca Shisler on Aug. 14 and 15) to the Sheriff, who promptly sets him on the trail of Robin Hood and his men.
Performance dates are Aug. 7, 8, 14, 15, 21 and 22, with the curtain rising each night at 8 p.m. Admission is $10 for adults, $8 for students, and $6 for seniors and children under 12. All shows are in the third floor Newell Theatre of the Quirk Cultural Center, 1201 Grant Ave. in Cuyahoga Falls.
