Having not tasted defeat for more than a year, Russell Equipment took one on the chin courtesy of Longhorn Steakhouse 12-6 July 11 in Bedford Recreation Adult Coed Softball League action.
Bob Wysocki had a huge game for Longhorn Steakhouse, going 3-4 with five RBI. Tony Canzoni contributed with two homers while scoring three times, Shannon Sapp chipped in with two hits.
Longhorn Steakhouse picked up another win July 11, beating Unique All-stars 14-1. Josh Backo and Jemar Lewis each had three hits and combined for nine RBIs.
Finishing Touches by Vickie moved within a game of the lead with a 8-5 win over Wild Streak.
Ed Florek had four hits for the winners. Manager Frank Gwiazdowski had three hits for Wild Steak.
Finishing Touches then completed their perfect evening with a 14-2 win over Zeppe's on the Automile. Jason Piscura and Jason Boova each had three hits for Finishing Touches by Vickie. Chan Coleman had a couple of hits for Zeppe's.
In an old-fashioned shootout, Unique All-stars outlasted Zeppe's on the Automile 25-15. Unique All-stars needed a 12-run fifth inning to open up what was a tight game. Pitcher Don Jenkins had three hits and knocked in five for Unique. Jesse Ball had three hits and knocked in six for Zeppe's on the Automile.
Unique All-stars recorded their second win of the evening, stopping the Bombers 21-10. Jemar Johnson had three hits and knocked in four for Unique All-stars. Jean Morgan had three hits and knocked in six for Bombers.
Herschman Architects stopped Longhorn Steakhouse 14-9. Manager Jeff Brummell had four RBIs for Herschman. Manager Matt Rossman and Tony Canzoni each had three hits for Longhorn Steakhouse.
Herschman Architects also dropped a tough 10-8 decision to Wild Streak, as a five-run fourth inning opened up this tight game. Don Bislich knocked in three. Jeff Burmmell knocked in three for Herschman Architects.
Herschman Architects bounced back with a 19-18 win over a fast improving Zeppe's on the Automile. Down by 10 runs in the bottom of the seventh, Zeppe's rallied to tie only to fall short in extra innings. Lynn Bundsuh, Chan Coleman each knocked in three runs for Zeppe's on the Automile.
Russell Equipment made it a tough night for Bombers, handing them their second loss of the night with a 20-0 whitewash. Rob Sebera had three hits and five RBIs for Russell Equipment.
