The Bedford Recreation's Adult Coed Softball League opened with a number of familiar faces on the field for the season.
Defending champion Russell Equipment (formerly known as Underdogs) returns along with nemesis Finishing Touches by Vickie.
Also returning are Herschman Architects, Wild Streak, Bombers, and Unique Allstars. The two new teams rounding out the league of eight are Zeppe's on the Automile and Longhorn Steakhouse.
Games are played Friday nights at The Glens and Ellenwood.
Defending champs Russell Equipment opened with three wins defeating Zeppe's on the Automile 21-0, Wild Streak 12-6, and Unique Allstars 9-6.
Against Zeppe's, Rob Sebera had seven RBIs on three hits including two homers. Mike Vraja had three hits and four RBIs in the win over Wild Streak. Manager Frank Gwiazdowski had three hits for Wild Streak.
In the hard fought win over Unique Allstars, Kevin Jonke had three hits and three RBIs. Kia Booker and manager Jerry Isler each had two hits for Unique.
Finishing Touches by Vickie also opened with three wins. First was a win over Longhorn Steakhouse 7-0, next was a big win over Bombers 28-6, and closing out with a 18-9 win over Herschman Architects.
Manager Mike Fiorilli hit for the cycle including two homers that platted five teammates in the win over Bombers. Will Casson had three hits for the Bombers. Brian Clark had the hot bat with three hits and six RBIs in the win over Herschman Architects. Ed Florek blasted a long home run and knocked in five as well. Manager Jeff Brummel had three hits for Herschman.
Herschman Architects did win their other two games to start off the season at 2-1. Their first win came over Bombers 13-11. Thomas George had three hits in the win. Manager Kenneth Lennon had four hits for Bombers. Herschman's other win was a 9-6 decision over Longhorn Steakhouse. Patrick Fox and Missy Kline each had two hits in the win. Manager Matt Rossman had three hits for Longhorn.
Longhorn Steakhouse bounced back with a 18-7 win over Bombers. Josh Backo and Bob Wysocki each had four hits for Longhorn. Josh Casson was a perfect 3-3 scoring three times and knocking in three for Bombers.
Wild Streak also stands at 2-1, winning 11-0 over Zeppe's on the Automile, and 19-13 over Unique Allstars. Clay Savage had three hits including two doubles for Wild Streak in the win over Zeppie's, while Russ Ribovich, Frank DiFranco, and Jason Brewster each had three hits, while Frank Gwiazdowski smashed a homer.
Unique Allstars was lead by Leah Evans and Cory Collins with three hits each.
Unique Allstars broke into the win column with a 19-5 win over Zeppe's on the Automile. Again, it was Cory Collins swinging the hot bat knocking in six. Manager Colleen Schneck had a hit for Zeppe's.
