Police News: Tools stolen from towing company

Bedford -- Police are looking for suspects who broke into an Industry Drive towing company and stole tools and other items April 10.

According to a police report, the manager of the company noticed the building's garage door would not open. He also noticed that several power tools, some welding equipment and scrap auto parts were missing from inside.

A cable connected to the garage door opener had been broken, and police said they believe the thief gained entry by forcing open the garage door.

Owners of the business are assessing the value of the theft. Police are investigating.

Breaking and entering

April 10. Glass door shattered at gas station: Officers responded to an alarm at a Turney Road gas station and found that the glass on the front door of the building had been shattered. Police found a large piece of concrete just outside the door.

Police said they checked the security video that showed a man in a black hooded sweatshirt inside the store. The video showed him taking several packs of cigarettes and a few instant Ohio Lottery tickets. Police are investigating.

Animal problems

April 8. Turkey caught in fence: Police received a call that a wild turkey had become stuck in a fence on the property of the municipal pool. The turkey escaped on its own and recreation officials were advised that the fence needed to be repaired.

Criminal damaging

April 7. Car window shattered: A Cleveland Heights woman reported that someone had shattered the rear passenger window on her 2004 Chevy Trailblazer while is was parked in a Northfield Road parking lot. A brick was found in the middle of the back seat.

The woman said nothing was taken from the vehicle. She said she had left her purse on the front passenger side floor of the vehicle, but it was still where she had left it.

Value of the damage is $150.

Breaking and entering

April 13. Door kicked in: A Libby Road woman reported that someone had kicked in the door to her apartment while she was gone overnight. She said nothing was missing from her apartment.

Auto theft

April 12. Car stolen from parking lot: A Bedford woman reported that her 1996 Chevy Tahoe had been taken from an Aurora Road parking lot. She was not sure if the vehicle had been locked, but said she had the only set of keys to the car, which was valued at $1,000. Police are investigating.
