County incumbents all victorious in March 4 primaries

Cuyahoga County " Many familiar faces around the county advanced to the fall general election as incumbent candidates claimed victory in the March 4 primary election.
According to final, but unofficial results from the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections, incumbent Democract Gerald T. McFaul will retain his seat as county sheriff. McFaul received 159,923 votes. Democratic challenger Paul Falzone received 82,243 votes.
No Republican candidates filed.
"For a grassroots campaign, I think we did pretty well," Falzone said. "I'm not going away. We know there are problems with crime that this county needs to address."
McFaul could not be immediately reached for comment.
In the race for recorder, Democrat incumbent Patrick O'Malley took 172,412 of the party votes, defeating Democratic challenger Nelson Cintron, who garnered 52,356 votes.
"It was a good race," Cintron said. "Now I will continue to be there to support the Democratic party."
O'Malley, who could not be reached immediately for comment, will face off with Republican candidate Cathy Luks in November.
Luks ran unopposed in the primary and received 35,406 votes.
Democratic incumbent Jim Rokakis will retain his seat as Cuyahoga County Treasurer. Rokakis received 158,192 votes. Democratic challenger Daniel Flanagan received 77,380 votes.
"As always I am grateful to the public for their confidence," Rokakis said. "I work hard and take this job seriously."
Flanagan could not be reached immediately for comment.
No Republican candidates filed to run for treasurer.
Democratic incumbent Tim Hagan will retain his seat as Cuyahoga County Commissioner, running unopposed and receiving 189,705 votes. He will also run unopposed in November, as no Republicans filed for the primary.
Democratic incumbent Peter Lawson Jones also ran unopposed in the primary and will face Republican candidate Deborah Sutherland in November. Jones received 187,179 votes, and Sutherland, also running unopposed, received 36,730 votes.
Democratic incumbent Bill Mason and Republican Annette Butler will face off in November for the position of Cuyahoga County prosecutor. Both ran unopposed in their primaries, with Mason receiving 190,548 votes and Butler receiving 35,376 votes.
Democratic incumbent Gerald E. Fuerst will run against Republican Burrell A. Jackson in November for the clerk of courts seat. Both ran unopposed in their primaries, with Fuerst receiving 190,844 votes and Jackson receiving 33,678 votes.
County Engineer Robert C. Klaiber and County Coroner Frank Miller will both retain their seats. Both ran unopposed in the March primary and will run unopposed in November.
Klaiber received 171,376 votes and Miller received 184,333 votes.
