Maple Heights -- Incumbent Democrat Stephanie Tubbs Jones and challenger Republican Thomas Pekarek will square off for the U.S. House of Representatives District 11 election in November.
The two candidates are running unopposed for election as their party nominees in the March 4 primary.
Jones is a member of the House committee on Ways and Means. Her subcommittees are Social Security and Select Revenue Measures.
Jones also serves on the committee on standards of official conduct and is an active member of numerous congressional caucuses including the Congressional Black Caucus and chairs its housing task force.
Jones earned her undergraduate degree from Case Western Reserve University, graduating with a master's degree in social work from the Flora Mather College in 1971.
She also earned a Juris Doctorate from Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1974. Additionally, she has received honorary doctorates from Myers University, Notre Dame College and Central State University.
Bedford, Bedford Heights, Maple Heights and Oakwood are part of the 11th District.
