Bedford " It looks like two of the three incumbents up for election on Council will retain their seats next year.
According to final but unofficial results from the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections,
Ward 6 Councilor Don Saunders defeated James Kirk, taking 59.3 percent of the vote.
"I'm glad. I think it is important that Council keep on the right track with direction
we are going," Saunders said. "We have to continue to work together to market the city."
Challenger Kirk said, "I was just hoping to get my name out there. I do not regret running and look forward to running again. In the meantime, I want to find other ways to help out the city and volunteer."
Saunders said he believes Kirk did well for his first time running for office.
"He is an up-and-comer," he said. "I am sure we will see him again."
In Ward 2 incumbent Stan Koci defeated Willie Mitchell, receiving 73.8 percent of the vote.
"I'm just happy to be re-elected," Koci said. "I look forward to continuing to serve the community."
Mitchell did not return calls for comment.
Ward 4 Councilor Paula Mizsak ran unopposed and will serve another four-year term.
