The Akron Woman's City Club Gallery 732 will feature the watercolor paintings of Munroe Falls artist Vijay Rastogi Aug. 28 through Sept. 24.

The gallery is free and open to the public during the club's regularly scheduled hours, Monday through Saturday, and some Sundays during brunch. For specific hours, call the club at 330 762-6261 or visit www.akronwomanscityclub.com.

Rastogi has engineering degrees from India and Missouri and a master of business administration from the University of Dayton. He was employed by Babcock & Wilcox Co. and the BFGoodrich Co. until starting his environmental consulting business in 1993 before retiring in 2008.

Rastogi has always had an interest in fine art inherited from his mother, who specialized in batik and oils. However, he started painting seriously only six years ago and studied at the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center. Rastogi has visited art museums in India, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Russia, England, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Hungary and across the USA. His passion is watercolors and includes landscapes, still life, and people, painted mostly from his own travels and photographs.

He has also painted commissioned paintings of homes and buildings. He has exhibited his work at the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center, where he has won awards, and at several privately organized art shows.

In 2008, Rastogi was elected to the Board of Trustees of the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center and works on their Finance and Grant committees.

He has donated paintings to the Coleman Foundation - Right at Home - benefit auctions, to the Kent Rotary Club benefit auctions and to Cuyahoga Valley Art Center fundraising events.
