Art history lectures continue at Laurel Lake with Monet, Michelangelo and more A free educational series titled "Through the Eyes of the Artist" continues once a month on Thursday evenings at Laurel Lake Retirement Community, 200 Laurel Lake Drive in Hudson. This monthly art history lecture series with local art historian Felicia Zavarella Stadelman uncovers fascinating details about some of the world's most renowned artists. Each presentation is enhanced with music, prints and images to tell the artist's story. Each day will focus on a different artist. The following lectures will be offered: * Claude Monet -- Aug. 26 at 7 p.m. -- The most consistent and dedicated of the Impressionist artists, committed to recording the effects of light and atmosphere and never giving up on his ideals. * Michelangelo -- Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. -- Who said "Carving is easy, you just go down to the skin and stop." * Andrew Wyeth -- Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. -- The Wyeth Dynasty of artists goes on for generations. * Tamara DeLempicka -- Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. -- If there is a single image that encapsulates art deco, and the glitz of the 1920s, it is Tamara de Lempicka. * Edgar Degas -- Dec. 2 at 7 p.m. -- The reluctant artist who had difficulty parting with his work These programs are free and open to the public. Registration is required. To register, call Julie at 330-650-2100. For a complete list of Lifelong Learning programs at Laurel Lake, visit www.laurellake.com/lifelonglearning.html. Comments
