Hale Farm & Village will host its 34th Annual Music in the Valley Program on July 11 and 12.

This festival spotlights acoustic folk music played in informal sessions by local musicians.

Presented in concert with Folknet, this event is also supported by WKSU.

Hale Farm & Village brings to life the story of the War Between the States. Guests learn about the issues and events that divided a nation, talk with a mother whose son is about to enlist, write a letter to a soldier on the front, and learn how national events affect the everyday life of those at home.

Hale Farm & Village features 21 historic buildings and talented craftspeople. Demonstrations include candle-making, blacksmithing, sawmilling, and hearth cooking. The farm also features oxen, sheep, cows, and gardens.

Let the sight of a steam powered sawmill cutting logs, the sound of the blacksmith's hammer pounding on the anvil, and the smell of fresh bread baking takes visitors back to the days when before sweeping up, the had to make the broom.

Hale Farm & Village is at 2686 Oak Hill Road in Bath. Museum hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children age 3 to 12. Members of the Western Reserve Historical Society and children 2 and under are free.

Group discounts are available. No reservations are necessary.
