Baldwin-Wallace College recently recognized Bedford High School teacher Felicia McMiller with the James Thomas High School Teacher Award.  She was nominated by B-W student Candice Thomas, an education major, of Maple Heights.

The award recognizes high school teachers who have inspired B-W students while preparing them for the college experience.  The award is funded by B-W alumnus and trustee James Thomas, chairman and CEO of Thomas Properties Group LLC.

In nominating McMiller, Thomas said, “Each day she encouraged me.  She expected the best from me at all times and enhanced my drive to excel.  Now, four years later, I am graduating from B-W with a degree in early childhood education.  With her support and passion for teaching as an example for me, I, too, can be a successful, caring, flexible and kind-spirited teacher to the students of my future classroom.”

McMiller was one of eight teachers chosen from the nominations of graduating seniors.  Each of the winning teachers received a $1,000 cash award with an additional $1,000 cash award going to the school in the teacher’s name.
