Northfield Village -- Police charged a 25-year-old Bedford man with operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol and driving under suspension after they said he crashed his car on Lowrie Boulevard in the middle of the night April 19. Both charges are first-degree misdemeanors. Police also charged him with minor misdemeanor failure to maintain reasonable control and possession of marijuana. According to a police report, the man was uninjured, but his car sustained extensive damage. Police said an anonymous person reported the accident, which involved the car striking a fire hydrant before the front end came to rest on a rock next to the road, about a foot off the ground. Police were uncertain April 20 how much damage had been done to the hydrant. The man was given an April 21 Northfield Village Mayor's Court date and released on a $50 bond. Operating a vehicle
April 16. Woman stopped on Route 8: Police charged a Bedford woman, 23, with misdemeanor operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, having a blood alcohol content over the legal limit and weaving after they stopped her at about 2:40 a.m. The woman was given an April 21 Northfield Village Mayor's Court date and released on a personal bond. Driving under suspension April 14. Man stopped for equipment violation: Police charged a Cleveland man, 21, with misdemeanor driving under suspension and driving with a non-working taillight after they stopped him on Route 8 at about 10:50 p.m. The man was given an April 28 Northfield Village Mayor's Court date and released on a personal bond. April 12. Man stopped on Houghton Road: Police charged a Parma man, 22, with misdemeanor driving under suspension, drug paraphernalia possession, marijuana possession and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle after they stopped him at about 8:45 p.m. Police said they found a plastic bag containing a small amount of suspected marijuana, an open bottle of beer and a suspected drug pipe in the man's vehicle. The man was given an April 14 Northfield Village Mayor's Court date and released on a $50 bond. Arrest warrants April 14. Man turned in by Cleveland police: Cleveland police reported they had in custody a 30-year-old Cleveland man wanted by Stow Municipal Court for failing to appear in court on a driving under suspension charge filed by village police. The man was given an April 20 municipal court date and released on a personal bond. April 14. Solon police turn in man: Solon police reported they had in custody a Cleveland man, 21, wanted by Northfield Village Mayor's Court for failure to pay fines on a speeding citation. Police said the man immediately paid the fines and was released. Property damage April 11. Windshield smashed: A Macedonia man reported he saw someone smash his car's windshield while it was parked in front of a Heights Avenue home in the middle of the night. The man said a friend he was staying with awakened him at about 3:30 a.m. and told him someone was standing by his car. The man looked out a window and saw the unidentified person throw a large piece of concrete through the windshield before disappearing into the dark. Police are investigating. April 9. Tire tracks in yard: A Huntington Drive man reported someone drove across his front yard, leaving tire tracks and ruts in the ground. Theft April 9. Man accused of shoplifting: Police charged an 18-year-old Cranbrook Drive man with first-degree misdemeanor theft after an employee of a Route 8 service station alleged the man took a smoking pipe of unspecified value from the station's store without paying for it. The man was given an April 14 Northfield Village Mayor's Court date and released on a $50 bond. -- Northfield Center --
April 18. Eggs thrown at garage: A Pebble Brook Court man reported someone had thrown five eggs against the side of his garage, causing unspecified damage. There are no suspects. April 17. Mailbox damaged: A Dorwick Drive man reported someone caused unspecified damage to his mailbox.
