A Summit County Common Pleas Court jury has found two men guilty of aggravated murder in the shooting death of a Cuyahoga Falls man in September 2008.

The jury returned the guilty verdict against Marc Kirksey of North Hill and Travis Elder of Akron March 27, an official with Judge Lynne Callahan's courtroom said.

In addition to aggravated murder, Kirksey and Elder were also found guilty of murder, aggravated robbery and having weapons while under disability in the Sept. 18, 2008, shooting death of Joshua Robinson, 23, of Cuyahoga Falls. Robinson was a Tallmadge High School graduate.

Kirksey and Elder were also found guilty of a firearms specification in connection with the aggravated murder, murder and aggravated robbery charges, according to the official with the judge's office.

The trial began March 23 and the closing arguments concluded March 27.

On Sept. 18, 2008, at approximately 8 p.m., Mr. Robinson was shot while standing outside an apartment on Ina Court in Akron, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office. Mr. Robinson was later pronounced dead at the scene at 8:28 p.m. on Sept. 18.

Authorities arrested Kirksey Sept. 21 and apprehended Elder on Oct. 2. On Oct. 3, a grand jury indicted Elder and Kirksey on charges of aggravated murder, murder and aggravated robbery with a firearms specification on each of those counts, plus a charge of having weapons while under disability.

Kirksey and Elder were scheduled to be sentenced March 31. Information on the sentencing was not available at press time.
