Police News: Macedonia home, garage ransacked; televisions missing

Macedonia -- Police are looking for three flat-screen televisions reported stolen from a Boulder Ridge Drive home Feb. 22.

A female resident told police she came home around 6:30 p.m. and found the trunk of her car open and its headlights on when she opened her garage door. The door from the attached garage to her house was also open.

She backed down the driveway to the street and called police.

Responding officers searched the home, but did not find anyone.

They found the front door had either been pried or kicked open, and drawers, cabinets and closets had been opened, with some their contents, dumped on the floor. Some furniture was moved or overturned.

The value of the missing TVs was not specified in the report.

Police said car in the garage had also been searched.

Suspicious incident

Feb. 25. Lab samples missing: A city man reported that a medical lab in Kansas, where his blood and urine samples had been sent for analysis on Feb. 10, informed him that the samples were missing, along with paperwork that included his name, Social Security number and medical history.

The man said he was filing the report as a precaution.

Identity theft

Feb. 24. $5,000 charged in man's name: A city man reported he had received at least two phone calls from a collection agency concerning $5,000 someone charged to a credit card account opened in his name in 2003. Police are investigating.

Feb. 14. $100 missing: A city woman reported her credit card was either lost or stolen since early December. No charges to the card were reported, but the woman said her savings account had $100 less than it should have.

It was not known if that was related to the missing card. Police said the woman's bank is investigating.

Feb. 10. Unauthorized charges reported: A construction company owner reported someone charged $2,127 at a Macedonia Commons Boulevard store Jan. 14 to his business' account. The man said someone charged $2,081 to the account at the company's Brunswick store Jan. 13.

The man said the company informed him that he would not be billed for the purchases. Police said the company is investigating. Police said several arrests were made in connection with the case, but no other information was available before press time.

Fake parking ticket

Feb. 22. Fake ticket left on vehicle: A woman reported someone left a fake parking ticket on her vehicle's windshield in a Macedonia Commons Boulevard parking lot. Police said there are no suspects.

Theft

Feb. 18. Towels taken: The manager of a Route 82 store reported an employee saw a woman put a motor vehicle cleaning towel of unspecified value into her purse and leave the store without paying for it. The manager said he then discovered four similar towels were missing.

Property damage

Feb. 18. Vehicle scratched: A man reported someone scratched his vehicle while it was in a Valley View Road parking garage Feb. 6, causing unspecified damage

Theft

Feb. 27. Alcohol missing: The Summit County Sheriff's Office charged a 31-year-old Solon man with first-degree misdemeanor theft and second-degree misdemeanor obstructing official business after a manager of a Route 82 store accused the man of stealing two $40 bottles of alcohol.

The manager said the man ran with the bottles before he could be stopped, but the sheriff's office said a deputy arrested the man a short time later while he was walking on Route 82 in Macedonia.

The sheriff's office gave the man a summons for Stow Municipal Court and released him.

Burglary

Feb. 24. Home burglarized: A Leonard Avenue woman reported someone entered her home through the unlocked front door while she was away during the day and took a 42-inch television set, a video game system and a cell phone of unknown value.

The Summit County Sheriff's Office said it is investigating, but there are no suspects.

Public indecency

Feb. 24. Man in vehicle arrested: Police charged a 32-year-old Stark County man with public indecency, a third-degree misdemeanor, after an employee of a Golden Link Boulevard business said an anonymous woman reported the man was exposing himself in his parked vehicle in the plaza lot.

The man was arrested, given a March 6 Stow Municipal Court date and released.
