meal served

A free community meal will be served at Northfield Presbyterian Church, at the southeast corner of Route 82 and Boyden Road in Northfield Center on Feb. 27 at 5:30 p.m.

A free meal is served at the church on the last (not necessarily the fourth) Friday of the month. No reservation is needed. The March meal will be served March 27.

Lenten dinners at
Our Lady of Guadalupe

Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 9080 Shepard Road in Macedonia, will be serving seafood, pierogis, pasta, and pizza dinners on Fridays during Lent from Feb. 27 through April 3 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Dinner will not be served on Good Friday.

Dinner selections range from $6 to $9 and include: Fried shrimp, fish (fried or baked), fish and shrimp combo, grilled salmon, potato and cheese pierogis and a weekly special. Seafood dinners include fries, coleslaw, and a roll with butter. Children's dinners are $4 to $5 and there is kid-friendly pizza meal with fries, applesauce and two cookies. Diners at the church have a choice of punch or tea/coffee included with their meal.

Each week features a homemade dinner special and soup selections: Lighter, and healthier, appetites will enjoy an expanded menu of side order selections with baked sweet potatoes joining the popular hand-battered onion rings and garden salad. Carryout meals are available by calling 330-468-2194, ext. 38 from 5 to 7 p.m.

The homemade weekly specials and soup selections are:

* Feb. 27: Baked ziti with marinara sauce, broccoli cheese soup.

* March 6: Bowtie pasta alfredo, New England clam chowder.

* March 13: Roasted vegetable lasagna, broccoli cheese soup.

* March 20: Pierogi bake with creamy cheddar sauce, potato soup.

* March 27: Cheese rollatini with marinara sauce, potato soup.

* April 3: Macaroni and cheese, New England clam chowder.

Train for discipleship, counseling

Destiny Church in Twinsburg is offering the Discipling & Counseling Basics Course One. Pastor Joe Propri of the Biblical Counseling Institute will be teaching the classes. Anyone desiring to become a Biblical counselor can also apply these courses towards the requirements to become certified with the National Association of Nouthetic Counselors.

The courses will be March 6 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. and March 7 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Destiny Church Ministry Center, 9241 Ravenna Road Suite C8. Plan on packing a bag lunch for March 7.
