St. Peter Chanel has named Jarvis Gibson head football coach. Gibson, who led Cleveland South High School to two Senate Athletic Championships and the Division II State Playoffs in 2007, is returning to the Firebirds, where he was the assistant coach and co-offensive coordinator for the 2001 undefeated Division V state champions.
"Gibson's success as an established high school head football coach, his proven track record at St. Peter Chanel, and his commitment to the educational and personal development of young men, led to the search committee's decision" said Dwight Hollins, director of Athletics.
While at South High School, Gibson garnered a record of 31-13 and was voted 2007 Division II state, district and county Coach of the Year Awards. Gibson also was voted Coach of the Year in 2005 and 2006 for the Senate Athletic Conference.
