Macedonia -- Police charged a 43-year-old Colorado man with one count each of third-, fourth- and fifth-degree felony drug possession and two counts of fourth-degree misdemeanor drug paraphernalia possession Nov. 10 after they stopped in the parking lot of a Highland Road motel at about 12:45 a.m. to determine why his van's lights were blinking rapidly. The man did not enter a plea to the felony charges and pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanors at his Nov. 11 arraignment in Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Court. He was scheduled for a Nov. 18 pretrial hearing and was released from Macedonia City Jail on a $1,500 bond. Police said the man told them he pulled into the parking lot because he was having engine trouble and needed to charge his battery. Police said they saw a large piece of steel wool and the inside tube of an ink pen on his passenger seat and asked the man if they could search him. Police said they arrested him after finding a suspected drug pipe in his back pocket with burnt residue. In his front pants pocket and in his jacket pocket, police said they found several pieces of suspected crack cocaine totaling about 5.7 grams. In the van, police said, they found a plastic bag containing 11.3 grams of suspected cocaine powder and three more drug pipes. Drug possession Nov. 10. Police find drugs after arresting man: A 40-year-old Cleveland man, already facing one felony charge, is facing several additional felonies and misdemeanors after police said they found suspected heroin and drug paraphernalia on him while arresting him on a warrant. The man did not enter a plea at a Nov. 12 arraignment in Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Court to one count each of carrying prohibited items onto detention facility grounds, a third-degree felony, and fifth-degree felony drug possession. He pleaded not guilty to two counts each of first- and fourth-degree misdemeanor drug possession. Lakewood police reported they had the man in custody and he was wanted by Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Court on a fifth-degree felony complicity to commit theft charge filed by Macedonia police in July. Police said that after taking custody of the man, they searched him at the police department and allegedly found a cigarette pack containing a "balloon" with 0.2 grams of suspected heroin in it, a cotton ball soaked in suspected heroin, four alcohol preparation pads, two razor blades, four syringes and two suspected drug pipes. The man is scheduled for a Nov. 19 pretrial hearing. He was being held in Macedonia City Jail on a $2,500 bond Nov. 17. Burglary Nov. 11. Alarm tripped, but nothing missing: Police responding to a burglary alarm at a Route 82 business at about 12:30 a.m. discovered the front door had been pried open and a cash drawer and several cabinets inside were open. The business manager said that nothing appeared to be missing, including two envelopes containing an unspecified amount of cash that were in the drawer. Police are investigating. Nov. 8. Neighbor reports broken window: A Preserve Lane man reported someone broke a rear basement window of a nearby vacant home. Police said they also found a side garage door had been forced open. Police said nothing inside the home appeared to have been disturbed. Nov. 7. Couple discovers open door: A Ledge Road man and woman reported discovering at about 11:30 p.m. that someone had broken into their home while they were away that day. The man said some DVDs in the living room were disturbed, but nothing was missing. Police said there were marks on the door indicating it had been pried open. Theft Nov. 10. Man seen leaving store with boots: An employee of a Route 82 business said employees saw an unidentified man leaving the store wearing a pair of $60 boots without paying for them. The employee said a customer reported seeing the man put the boots on, but the man left in a car before he could be stopped. -- Northfield Center -- Property damage Nov. 16. Woman reports eggs, toilet paper on property: A Schooner Lane woman reported someone threw eggs and toilet paper on her front lawn and driveway during the night. Theft Nov. 14. Equipment stolen from construction yard: An employee of a Seneca County construction contractor reported someone broke into a storage trailer at a Highland Road construction site and took an unknown amount of diesel fuel and various pieces of equipment. The employee said items stolen included two jack hammers, two air drills, miscellaneous drill bits, two 50-foot air hoses, two 500-foot rolls of metal wire and 50 metal rods. The side of the storage trailer was also damaged during the break-in, police said. Police said the value of the missing items is unknown and they are investigating. Robbery Nov. 13. What a drag: Two Cleveland men, ages 36 and 19, did not enter a plea in Cuyahoga Falls Municipal Court Nov. 14 on one count each of robbery, a second-degree felony, after an employee of a Route 82 store alleged the men took $212 in beer and candy from the store without paying. The employee said he followed them out to a car and tried to grab onto it as they drove a way, dragging him a short distance before he let go. According to a police report, the employee was examined by the Northfield Center Fire Department at the scene and released. The men are scheduled for a Nov. 20 pretrial hearing. The older man was being held on a $7,500 bond and the younger man on a $5,000 bond in Summit County Jail Nov. 17.
