World War II veteran, Bedford teacher

Arthur A. McCrae Jr., 85, died Aug. 18, 2008, after a long battle with cancer.

He served in the Army for five years during World War II, prior to his 27 years of teaching social studies at Moody Junior High in Bedford. During his years of teaching, he was instrumental in setting up a memorial and tree-planting ceremony done each year by his students.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Johnson-Romito Funeral Home.
