With the remaining make-up games completed, Russell Equipment secured the top spot in the Bedford Recreation Coed Softball League. This also places Russell Equipment in the No. 1 seed for the playoff championship. Russell Equipment took two from Herschman Architects 8-6 and 15-3 July 18. Game one hitting honors went to Melisa Sebera with three hits and two runs scored. Game two saw Russell start slow but finish fast as they scored 14 runs the last three innings. Manager Cole Svoboda and Brandon Bolibrush each knocked in three. Russell Equipment then took two from Wild Streak to finish the season at 20-1. The scores were 14-5 and 8-7. Joe Bielanski's three hits and four RBI lead Russell. In game two, it took two runs in the bottom of the seventh by Russell to come from behind to lock up the game 8-7. Chris Buehner knocked in three for the victors. It's been a long, rough first season for Zeppe's on the Automile as they went winless their first 19 games of the season. However, Zeppe's battled and finally pulled out a victory with a 13-7 win over Bombers. Jesse Ball had three hits and knocked in four along with Jim Schneck for Zeppe's on the Automile. The league runner-up spot went to Finishing Touches by Vickie, who finished the season at 18-3. Finishing Touches took on and beat Bombers twice by the scores of 24-14 and 8-6. Ed Flored had a game for the ages, belting three homers and knocking in 10 RBIs. Manager Kenneth Lennon of Bombers knocked in five. Game two saw Bombers try to come back, but fall short. Jason Boova knocked in two for Finishing Touches. Finishing Touches by Vickie then beat Longhorn Steakhouse 19-12. Brian Clark had five hits and knocked in five. Unique Allstars finished on a bit a streak themselves by taking two from Wild Streak 12-7 and 6-5. In game one, manager Jerry Isler had two hits and knocked in two. In game two, Unique Allstars had to hold on as the tying and winning runs were on base in the seventh inning for Wild Streak before getting the final out.
