Bedford Heights -- A Rockside Road man was arrested April 25 after police said he was carrying a concealed weapon.
Police said someone reported a man walking around the outside of a Rockside Road apartment complex with a handgun. When police arrived, they saw someone matching the caller's description at a picnic table. They ordered the man to put his hands up.
Police said the man grabbed something from his pocket, threw it in the trash receptacle and started running toward Rockside Road.
Police apprehended the man nearby. The 20-year-old man was a resident at the complex. Police checked the trash can and found a 9-mm loaded handgun.
The man was charged with carrying a concealed weapon.
Theft
April 25. Cash stolen from pizza shop: An employee of a Miles Road pizza shop said someone stole $300 of his money. The man said he left the cash in a credit card holder behind the counter at the pizza shop while he was making deliveries. When he returned the holder was gone. His manager found the holder in the women's restroom, but the money was missing.
Surveillance cameras were not working and there were nine employees at the shop that night. Police are investigating.

Disorderly conduct
April 28. Juveniles fighting: A Talbot Avenue man reported that two juveniles were fighting at a Talbot playground. When police arrived they found two juvenile females, who were covered in mud and had superficial wounds on their faces.
One of the girls told police that the other girl had stolen her tennis shoes earlier that day at Bedford High School. Both girls were charged with disorderly conduct in juvenile court and turned over to their mothers. Theft charges had not been filed.
Assault
April 27. Woman says man pushed her into wall: A Northfield Road woman reported that her boyfriend had just assaulted her and left on foot toward Columbus Road.
The woman said the man threatened to shoot her, then pushed her head into a brick wall. The woman had minor injuries and was not hospitalized Police located the man on Northfield Road. The woman told police that the man had left with a gun on him, but police found no gun. The man was taken into custody and charged with domestic violence.
Shoplifting
April 28. Items taken from store: Security personnel at a Rockside Road department store reported they had a man in custody who tried to steal $468 in merchandise.
Store security said they watched the man taking items off the shelves and placing them into a child's safety seat box. They said the man paid for the safety seat, but not for the additional items concealed in the box.
Police arrested the man and charged him with theft.

Shoplifting
April 27. Margarita mix taken: A 58-year-old Cleveland woman was charged with shoplifting after an employee said he saw her trying to leave the store with a $10 bottle of margarita mix. The security guard stopped the woman, who was held until police arrived.
Found property
April 23. Man "en-gauged" in work finds surprise: A Lee Road apartment manager told police he was cleaning out a bedroom closet after a tenant moved out and found an empty 12-gauge shotgun. He did not report finding any shells.
Police could find no serial numbers on the gun and took it into evidence to be destroyed.
April 28. Strange findings: A South Boulevard woman told police she found a shoe and a bottle of urine in her yard around 12:20 p.m. The woman showed the items to police and then she tossed the items in the trash. Neither item belonged to the woman.
Theft
April 25. Portable hoop and rim fouled out: A Ramage Avenue woman told police a portable basketball hoop, and rim, worth $150, was taken from her backyard.
