by April Helms Special Products Editor Weathervane Playhouse has included a potpourri of shows in its 2008-09 lineup, including a new comic mystery, musicals, classics and contemporary pieces. Two shows -- the long-running "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and "Amahl and the Night Visitors" -- will be returning again for the holidays. "Go, Dog. Go!/ The Aristocats," a production geared toward younger children, will run from July 25 through Aug. 10. This show is part of the Young Actor series. The theater will open its mainstage season with "The Rainmaker," a romantic comedy by N. Richard Nash, Sept. 3. The play will run through Sept. 21. Following in October will be "Children of Eden," a musical by Stephen Swartz, which will run from Oct. 9 through 26. "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" will run from Nov. 25 through Dec. 21, as part of the theater's Young Actor series. A world premiere comedy opens 2009, with "Bloody Murder" by Ed Sala. The play opens Jan. 15, 2009 and runs through Feb. 1. Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" will be staged Feb. 26 through March 8 as part of the Young Actor series. "A Doll's House" by Henrik Isben will be staged next, running from March 19 through April 5. "Perfect Wedding" by Robin Hawdon will be staged April 30 through May 17. The season will end with the musical "Man of La Mancha" by Dale Wasserman, which will run June 4 through 28. Weathervane Playhouse also will stage two shows in its Dietz theater: "Love! Valour! Compassion" by Terrence McNally will play Oct. 20 through Nov. 9, and "Intimate Apparel" by Lynn Nottage will play Feb. 26 through March 8. Subscription packages are available.
