Pollice News: Washington Street woman charged with felonious assault

Bedford -- A 29-year-old Washington Street woman pleaded not guilty to felonious assault after police said she attacked a 21-year-old Turney Road woman March 17. Police said the victim was stopped at Center Road and Grace Street facing north at about 1 p.m. The suspect was heading south on Center and police said she deliberately drove her vehicle into the left front fender of the victim's vehicle. Police said the suspect exited her car and tried to assault the victim with a knife, then got back in her own car and left the scene. The victim sustained minor injuries. A witness called police.

When police arrived, the victim said she knew the woman who allegedly attacked her. Less than an hour later state police said they had the suspect in custody on Interstate 77 southbound near Bath Township. The woman was charged with felonious assault and was arraigned March 19 in Bedford Municipal Court where her case was bound over to a grand jury.

Theft

March 18. Washer and dryer taken: A man reported that a since there's no charges, let's just say woman allegedly had taken a washer and dryer from a Dalepark Drive apartment that he owned. Police are investigating. Value of the washer and dryer is $435.

Grand theft

March 18. Money stolen from restaurant: A manager of a Rockside Road fast food restaurant reported that an employee allegedly stole $2,122 from the restaurant the night before. The manager said the suspect was supposed to deposit the money at a nearby bank, but the deposit was never made.

Police contacted the suspect and advised him to turn himself in. The suspect turned himself in later that day. He was charged with theft.

Theft

March 20. Trailer stolen: The manager of a Miles Road plumbing company reported that someone had stolen a 15-foot aluminum trailer from one of the company's trucks. The truck was parked in the company lot. Value of the trailer was $2,500.

Shoplifting

March 21. Items taken from gas station: The manager of an Aurora Road gas station reported that a man was inside stuffing his pockets with merchandise. Police responded and met the man as he was trying to exit the gas station. After patting the man down they found 18 items in his pockets including candy, sandwiches and chips. Value of the items was $26. The man was given a misdemeanor citation for petty theft.
