Bedford --- A 23-year-old man is in critical condition at MetroHealth Medical Center after he was shot in the abdomen at a Rockside Road restaurant Friday morning.
Police said a verbal dispute broke out between two groups of people inside IHOP, 22707 Rockside Road, at 2:30 a.m. A man from one of the groups pulled out a handgun and fired two shots at the victim, who was with the other group, then fled the restaurant. The first bullet struck the victim in the abdomen and the second missed, police said. No one else was injured.
Police said IHOP closed for a few hours and re-opened later that morning.
The suspect was described as a 5-foot 8-inch black male in his late teens or early twenties. At the time of the shooting he was wearing a tan or green jacket with fur trim.
Anyone with information should call police at 440-232-1234.
