Police news: Man says he was robbed while delivering pizza

Bedford Heights -- A pizza delivery man said he was robbed March 15 around the time while he was trying to make a delivery at a Rockside Road apartment building.

The delivery man said he was walking through the lobby of the building when a man wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt approached him and demanded the pizza and the victim's money. The victim gave him the pizza and about $100. No one was injured.

The victim said the suspect did not show a weapon. He said he could not see the man's face because he covered it with his sweatshirt. The suspect left in a four-door gray car. The victim said he did not see the license plate of the vehicle.

Theft from auto

March 12. Tools stolen from truck: The manager of a flooring company reported that several tools were stolen from a company truck while it was parked at a Solon Road business.

According to the report, the padlock on the back door of the truck was missing along with several tools from inside the truck including a circular saw, a drill and a grinder. Value of the tools is $800.

Menacing

March 14. Woman receives threatening e-mail: An employee at a Fargo Avenue business reported that she received an e-mail from someone who claimed they had been paid to kill her.

The message went on to say that, if she wanted to live, she had to send the person $1,500.

According to the report, the e-mail came from somewhere in the United Kingdom.

Police told the woman they would patrol the area around the business more frequently and told her to contact them if she received any more e-mails like that.

Police said they believe the e-mail is a hoax. Some officers said they have heard of others receiving similar e-mails.

Auto theft

March 13. Vehicle stolen: A woman reported that her 2004 Lincoln Navigator was stolen while parked at a Northfield Road business. It was unknown if the vehicle was locked. Value of the car is $60,000.

Theft

March 13. Bathtub stolen from behind business: The owner of a Northfield Road business reported that someone stole a $1,500 cast iron clawfoot bathtub from his back lot.

Attempted burglary

March 15. Window broken at home: A Northfield Road man reported that someone attempted to break into his house. A rear bedroom window was broken and someone entered while the home was vacant. The access door to the plumbing area was found open, but nothing was taken.
