Maple Heights -- Residents looking for a different flair in sea-faring cuisine need sail no further than Maple Town Shopping Center.

According to manager Tony Ahmed, Hooks Seafood and Deli, which opened at 15830 Broadway Ave. late last year, specializes in seafood, but also has sandwiches, gyros, chicken and desserts.

"Everything is cooked to order," Ahmed said. "And our kitchen is open so customers can see how fresh our food is."

He also said, "All our desserts, which includes cakes, sweet potato pie and peach cobbler, are done here."

Ahmed said, unlike some restaurants that serve both seafood and chicken, his kitchen does not fry the two in the same oil.

"We use 100 percent vegetable oil," he added.

Ahmed said the restaurant is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 8 p.m.

Ahmed, who lives in Independence, said he has been in the restaurant business for 13 years. He said the store, which has five employees, opened up in Maple Town because it seemed like an "upper-class area" and there are no other seafood restaurants nearby.
